The School of Mathematical and Statistical Sciences invites those with potential for excellence in research and teaching to submit an application for consideration as an Assistant Professor.  This position is a 100% FTE, continuing, tenure track, 9-month appontment to start August 16, 2022.   

Housed within the College of Engineering, Computing, Technology, and Mathematics, the School of Mathematical and Statiscal Sciences offers graduate degree programs leading to the Master of Arts or Master of Science degree in mathematics and the Doctorate of Philosophy degree in Mathematics.

The candidate hired will be expected  to teach effectively at the undergraduate and graduate level, supervise masters and doctoral students, and publish original research in peer-reviewed journals. The primary service component is to be the unit’s calculus coordinator.

  • Ph.D. in mathematics, statistics, or related field by date of appointment.  ABD applicants will be considered if all requirements for the PhD will be completed by August 15, 2022.  If all requirements for the PhD are not completed by this date, a term, non-tenure track appointment may be offered in accordance with University policy ( -faps/conting.php). 
  • The research area is open, but should be compatible with current faculty.
  • Evidence of effective teaching in mathematics or statistics courses at an instructor or teaching assistant level.
  • Academic employment after the Ph.D.
  • Published or accepted peer-reviewed research beyond the PhD dissertation.
  • Experience relevant to guiding efforts to improve student success; demonstrated knowledge of best practices for student success in calculus.
