Main Content
- Below you will find a list of Administrative/Professional, Civil Service Current and Civil Service Continuous Post vacancies. Please follow the application instructions associated with the job category you wish to apply.
Administrative/Professional Vacancies
- A/P positions are wide ranging, but are generally non-teaching, salaried, professional positions. A/P positions can be full- or part-time, and require at least a Bachelor degree. Each vacancy has specific qualifications, which are listed for each available job. Applicants must upload all required documents and complete required forms to be considered for a specific A/P vacancy. Applications received after the posted deadline may be considered on a job-by-job basis.
Civil Service Current Vacancies
- Current Vacancies have specific deadlines listed in the “Job Details” section within the posting. If you are interested in a position press the "Apply for Position" button and complete the Civil Service Application prior to the deadline. Pay special attention to the “Required Documents” field. To be considered for the vacancy, all required documents listed must be uploaded by the position deadline. These Civil Service classifications will close at 12:00pm on the deadline to apply date.
Civil Service Continuous Postings/Classifications
Continuous Post classifications describe a group of positions that are frequently hired, therefore applications are accepted on an ongoing basis. Postings for these classifications will vary on a monthly rotation, and the words “Continuous Post” will be included in the job title. When a department has an opening for a ‘Continuous Post’ classification, only applicants who have applied, qualified and tested will be considered.
View the rotation schedule for Civil Service Continuous Post classifications.
For more information and a full list of Civil Service classifications visit the State Universities Civil Service System website at sucss.illinois.gov. Please note, Southern Illinois University Carbondale does not utilize all classifications listed on the SUCSS website.
