The Computer Science Program of the School of Computing at Southern Illinois University Carbondale seeks applicants for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in the area of Cybersecurity and Cyber Physical Systems, starting August 16, 2023. Strong applicants in other Computer Science areas may be considered.

The School offers PhD, MS, BS and BA degrees in Computer Science. The selected individual will join a vibrant and collegiate School that has enjoyed continued success in research and education. 

The selected candidate will teach courses at both the graduate and undergraduate levels in Computer Science; conduct high quality research and direct graduate student research in computer science; and participate in activities that support the school's mission of teaching, research, and service. 

  1. Ph.D. in computer science or related field. ABD applicants will be considered if all requirements for the PhD will be completed by August 15, 2023.  If all requirements for the PhD are not completed by this date, a term, non-tenure track appointment at a reduced rate of pay may be offered in accordance with University policy (https://policies.siu.edu/personnel-policies/chapter2/ch2- faps/conting.php).
  2. Evidence of high quality ongoing and future research.
  3. Teaching competency for computer science courses at both the undergraduate and graduate level.
  4. Specialty in Cybersecurity and Cyber-physical systems.
